I am interested in exploring the effects of one’s environment on the true self. This vague question leads to a series of other questions. What is the true self? Is the core, “true” self composed of fluid identities derived from experience? I am interested in exaggerating these identities and constructing them into post-human beings. By disfiguring or hybridizing the figures in my drawings, I can explore the human condition without boundaries of realism. This allows me to portray the dialogue between the so-called true self and these malleable identities created by experience and environment. Beyond exploring the mind’s internal dialogue, I am also interested in the way human emotion and consciousness can be interpreted as entities separate from the individual.
